A Lawyer Chat Credit allows you to request Human Legal Support through Outlex. In general, one Lawyer Chat Credit covers one discrete matter, document, legal question or workflow, including reasonable follow-up questions that remain directly related to the same issue, document and factual context.

No. Lawyer Chat Credits are not hourly billing. They are a usage mechanism that gives you access to Human Legal Support for defined legal requests. The number of credits required depends on the scope and complexity of the request, not on the exact number of minutes or hours spent.

One Lawyer Chat Credit will usually cover one clearly defined request, such as: reviewing one document or a set of connected documents up to 10 pages in total; answering one legal question and connected follow-up questions; supporting one specific legal issue; helping with one workflow, such as reviewing a clause, preparing a response, or checking a contract position. Reasonable follow-up questions are included, provided they relate to the same matter, document, issue and factual background.

For document review, the usual reference is the total number of pages to be reviewed, whether the request relates to one document or multiple documents. As a general rule, one Lawyer Chat Credit covers up to 10 pages of document review. This means: up to 10 pages = 1 Lawyer Chat Credit; more than 10 pages and up to 20 pages = 2 Lawyer Chat Credits; more than 20 pages and up to 30 pages = 3 Lawyer Chat Credits; and so on, with one additional Lawyer Chat Credit for each additional block of up to 10 pages. Outlex may still determine that additional Lawyer Chat Credits are required where the review is particularly complex, urgent, high-risk, multi-jurisdictional, or requires materially more work than a standard review.

Yes, in some cases. If the documents are up to 10 pages in total, directly connected and part of the same matter or workflow, they may be treated as one request. For example, if your plan or quote states that one Lawyer Chat Credit covers up to 10 pages, that page limit is generally considered across the full request, not necessarily per document. This means that several short documents may count as one credit if, together, they remain within the applicable scope. 

If Outlex determines that your request requires more than one Lawyer Chat Credit, we may send you the proposed credit allocation for approval before Human Legal Support starts. You will need to approve the additional credit usage for the request to proceed. If you do not approve it within the timeframe indicated, or within a reasonable period if no timeframe is given, the request may be cancelled and no Human Legal Support will be provided for that request.

Outlex may reasonably determine whether a request should be treated as one request or as multiple separate requests for Lawyer Chat Credit usage. This helps ensure that credits are applied fairly, depending on the actual scope, complexity and legal work involved.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in your plan, unused Lawyer Chat Credits do not roll over. This means that if your plan includes a certain number of Lawyer Chat Credits per billing period and you do not use them all, the unused credits expire at the end of that billing period. For example, if your plan includes 10 Lawyer Chat Credits per month and you use only 6, you will receive 10 new Lawyer Chat Credits the following month, not 14.

No. Lawyer Chat Credits are not cash, stored value, electronic money, securities, vouchers or payment instruments. They are not transferable, refundable or redeemable for cash, except where required by law or expressly stated in Outlex's terms.

No. Lexi provides legal context and drafting support. Outlex lawyers can join when judgment matters and requires formal legal advice.
